The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Feedback of the Community

Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Backing up to new Computer

Could an expert explan why if you have a new computer you just can not restore the registry and program files (backed up saying using Genie or True Image) from your old computer.

(These programs work very well I understand if you restoring to the original computer)

My understanding is that the BIOS comes into it which is I presume on firmware and can be basically different for each manufacturer
BIOS links to XP using say Boot and or configsys (I am a old MS_DOS man)
But why cann't a modern backup S/W handle this?

Be interested in the explanation or perhaps a recommendation of a better backup program
