Blue Screen, Event Viewer Errors

hiya,

sometimes my computer blue screens and i often see this error in the system event viewer.

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D.

dell keeps telling me its a software issue. so i reinstalled xp from scratch. as soon as i finished the install i went to the event viewer and i saw a ton of the controller errors. these errors were occurring during the later stages of install.

when i get the blue screen i do not get a dump file even though system says it completed. how can i get a dump file or what can i do to get to the bottom of this?
