Hello. I have a 320 gb hard disk that has two partitions, one that is 40 gb, and another that is 280 gb. I have all my data stored on the 280. I have been using the 40 gb as a windows partition. I had a virus and formatted my 40 gb partition. I wanted to install ubuntu instead of windows, but after a successful install, I decided that I wanted windows back. I restarted by computer and through the bootable xp cd, I deleted the 40 gb ubuntu partition, and created a windows partition. Setup files were loaded and everything, however when the computer restarts, it goes through a cycle of restarting again and again. It is not able to load the xp setup files from the 40 gb partiton.
I noticed later that somehow the 320 gb partition had a C:\ label, and the 40 gb partition with the windows setup files had a D:\ label. When I tried the command fixboot in the recovery console, it said the target partition was C:\.
I simply want to have the 40 gb partition be C:\ again, and have a proper windows installation, without formatting the entire 320 gb disk.
please help
