The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

W2K User profile corrupted and cannot access it??

Help!!!

I have a Windows 2000 Server. I was loading software for the cheapest Chinese digital camera you have ever seen in your life. It gave me a strange error about could not copy the driver files because of "access denied". (I was logged on as myself, a regular user). Also, for the first time, my eTrust antivirus popped up and said it had just found the Win32/Looked!INI virus. Then, the installer said it could not copy driver files because my account was locked out. (strange)

So I went to log off and log back on as Administrator so I could continue installing the drivers for the camera.

It took a long time to log off and when I tried to log back on it gave the following error

"Windows cannot log you on because the profile cannot be loaded. DETAIL - Access is denied".

Event log shows errors number 1000 (account currently disabled, which it isn't), 1000 (Windows cannot unload your registry class file) ,1000 (Access is denied) and 1000 (RegLoadKey failed)

I looked on the Internet and saw this can be caused by a corrupted profile. So I downloaded and installed Microsoft User Profile Hive cleanup utility and rebooted.

Now I can log in, but NONE of my files are there. My Documents and my Desktop folders are empty. WTH!!!!!!!!!!!

WHen I open My computer and go into Documents and Settings, I see that Windows has created a NEW folder for me, a.k.a. "username.COMPUTERNAME" whereas all of my files are in just "username".

How can I fix my computer so that I can log into my regular profile and get all of my files back???

Also, is this related to the virus and if so, did i get this virus from the camera installation CD?Start Free Trial
