Slow domain logon issues

Recently I setup a new Windows 2003 Server and I created a bunch of domain users accounts on it.  When I login on a pc in the network, it is a very slow process.  I see the message "Applying your personal settings.." for several minutes.  What could be causing this delay?  How can I speed this up?
