I currently work for a school that has various child domains. The past network administrator connected all the remote sites by creating child domains. I want to remove one of the child domains and join it to the main domain. The two sites are currently connected by a point to point connection. Below are the subnets to the two sites I would like to join.
Main site is 192.168.1.x
Site 2 192.168.70.1
I have purchased a new server with two nic cards. Below are the configs of the nics
Nic1
IP 192.168.70.11
255.255.255.0
192.168.70.1
DNS 192.168.70.1
Nic 2
192.168.1.201
255.255.255.0
192.168.70.1
This server will be an AD, DNS, DHCP, File and print server.
The current server has IGMP enabled as the routing protocol. I need to for users of the .70 subnet to be able to access resources on the .1 subnet. I cant do this with the current set up, when I attempt to ping the .1 network from the .70 network the pings do not go through. What would be the best way to get these networks to talk to each other? Would creating a static route in routing and remote access suffice? Is there a better way?
