My manager came to me and said he wants a Business case for moving from our current environment to one giant forest. It is now;
Domain A Domain B Domain C Domain D
| |
4 Children ? Children
In words, we have 4 unrelated domains, and 2 have child domains.
They want it to be;
Domain1-------------------
| | | |
Domain A Domain B Domain C Domain D
| |
4 Children ? Children
Talking about it more, the decision has been made to do this, and we want to know what we are going to have to do to make this happen, and the impact of doing it.
My Knee jerk reaction is this;
We will need to accommodate for the following;
User accounts (management has decided they will all reside at the top level)
Service acounts reside only in the sub domains
Domain Objects
Trusts
Lag (some domains have bad network connections to the whole.
Has anyone consolidated domains before?
What if the domains are named different like --- abc.com - and - dfg.com?
What traps am I not thinking about?
