A delegation for this DNS server cannot be created because the authoritative parent zone cannot be found.
I get the above error when attempting to create my domain controller. I have selected the DNS server option as I need this to run DNS services as well. I am adding this into an environment with 2003 domain controllers. I am wondering if this will prevent me from hosting DNS services and what the work around will be.

You need to edit your TCP/ IP settings on your network card to have dns entries of your other DNS servers. The server will then be able to resolve the domain name entered.

Hope this helps.

Yep, worked for me too.  Sweet.  Thanks!

Great tip about adding DNS later. Save me a lot of frustration. Thanks!

+1 for me too - this post helped me a lot while following instructions to add a Win 2K8 R2 server to my existing network which had a Win SBS 2008 server as the primary DC.

Wish we'd know about this solution before.  Would have saved lots of headaches.  Things are smooth now!

My additional domain controller server suddenly hard drive crashed. I do not have a backup. I try to install one more domain controller on the same server, and i get the following error. Please help me.

Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft brand for identity-related capabilities. In the on-premises world, Windows Server AD provides a set of identity capabilities and services, and is hugely popular (88% of Fortune 1000 and 95% of enterprises use AD). This topic includes all things Active Directory including DNS, Group Policy, DFS, troubleshooting, ADFS, and all other topics under the Microsoft AD and identity umbrella.
