SQL 2005 WMI Problem

Hello,

I get the error message "the SQL Server system configuration checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine".

I have tried all of the batch files listed in other solutions and I have rebuilt the repository several times. My last option is to reinstall the OS but I would like to avoid that.

Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

Here are the files after running the wmi utility also.
WMIDIAG-V2.0-VISTA.CLI.RTM.32-MA.TXT
WMIDIAG-V2.0-VISTA.CLI.RTM.32-MA.LOG
Hi,
Im not a SQL expert but when are you getting these errors, is it when your trying to start SQL 2005 after installing it?
 Or when your trying to install it, also what O/S are you running it on?

Check the following link, the batch file on there worked for someone that had the same error as you did.

Thank you for responding. This problem is during install. I have tried that batch file also with no luck.

I am running windows Vista and I am thinking of reinstalling the OS.
Hi,
verify WMI is running in the services.

From a command prompt do the following commands

winmgmt /verifyrepository

if it comes back as inconsistant try the following
winmgmt /salvagerepository
Hello. Comes back as repository is consistent.
Hi does it give you any error codes, or are any posted to the event viewer?
Hi, do you want to try the following, may be worth a restart then rettry the install. Site I found it on is listed

  1. Add network service account to administrators group.
   2. Add authenticated users to following registry keys:

    * HKCR\CLSID\{73E709EA-5D93-4B2E-BBB0-99B7938DA9E4}
    * HKCR\CLSID\{7C857801-7381-11CF-884D-00AA004B2E24}
    * HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM

*****************************************************************************************

I would also add&

To do step 1, you go to Control Panel, User Accounts, Advanced tab, click Advanced button, and open Groups folder.

To do step 2, right click on those registry keys, click Permissions, and add Authenticated Users.  I gave them Full Control permissions, but Im not sure if that was necessary or not.

I have followed the steps in your microsoft forums link and the test failes after step 6 "6.click "Enum Instances...", type in "win32_processor", click OK".

I get: Number: 0x80004002
Facility: <Null>
Description: No such interface supported

Any ideas?
