The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Infected Windows 2003 Server?

Asked by FASTECHS in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Server, Windows 2003 Server

I am having the most bizarre problems with a Dell Poweredge 830 server, running Small Business Server 2003 Standard.

Here is a laundry list of things I can't perform when logged on as administrator:

* I can not view extended services in the control panel. Only can view standard. When I right click on a service and go to properties nothging happens.
* Under network connections there is nothing listed, yet when I go into the command prompt and do an IPCONFIG I am getting an IP. However, since I can't see anything I can't change.
* I can't apply 2003 SP2 as I get a file missing message
* I cannot copy anything or move anything
* In active directory users and computers I try to add a user which I can do; however, if I try to go into the properties I can't adjust anything. LIterally the right click doesn't work at all
* If I try to right click and move files nothing happens.

I ran sfc /scannow that didn't fix the problem
I tried logging in as a local administrator but I only can log in under the domain

My NOD32 antivirus worked perfectly fine, did a scan and reported no viruses, removed NOD thinking it was the culprint but still having problems. Downloaded Clamwin antivirus and ran a scan. Nothing found with Clamwin either.

I ran hijackthis and removed everything from startup. I tried running msconfig and disable everything from startup but it says access denied! I have no clue how this is possible since I am logged on as administrator.
