Browse All TopicsI have full admin rights to this machine, however when I go into device manager it alerts me that I don't have admin rights (therefore all new devices I wish to install fail), I can do other things that require admin rights ie uninstall/install software. This seems to be the case for all computer in this OU, there isn't anything different to this OU compared to others in our domain that I can see.

Run the RSoP. You may have an enforced policy on this OU that affects the admins access to devices.
Do you have GPMC on a win2k3?

Check what GPOs apply to the existing OU that does not apply to the other OU.

First see if you can do it in safe mode, and if you can it indicates a conflict with
a driver or start up program. You might want to try using secedit to reset security
settings to default defined levels as described in KB link below. If that does not
help try an upgrade install before doing a wipe install, but you will need to
reinstall service pack and critical updates at Windows Update. Always be sure to
disable antivirus whenever you install anything on your computer. -- Steve
