I have about 150 users. I'm sure the first upload will take a while considering each users have about 2g of files. What is the recommended amount of users to store all their files on the server instead of the desktop? Any recommendation on a reliable cheap online backup company?

If you set the My Documents Folder to a Server location and have File Sync activated you already have 2 copies of all files. One on the local machine and one on the server. You would normally do this with a Group Policy in the Users OU.
On line Backup solutions are often cheap, as you requested, but you may find the longterm cost and loss of company control of data a serious mistake. I agree that NTBackup is a solution but there is another which we also use.
Large USB Portable Hard Drives or NAS Boxes with large HD installed in Raid 1 configuration. Both of these remain under Company control and with USB Drives (FreeAgent 250GB for example) these can be swapped over weekly and taken off site. Total cost around $US200 plus setup time.

One Backup software that is often overlooked for costly alternatives is Windows NTBACKUP (free).

NTBackup is far more capable than most people realise, containing state-of-the-art features such as Volume Shadow Copy, Automated System Recovery (bare metal recovery), Registry backup, Active Directory backup etc. When used correctly and in conjunction with freely available enhancement software you can implement a backup strategy with NTBackup and avoid costly backup software from third parties.
