Browse All TopicsAfter removing a virus that infected a fresh Windows XP Pro SP3 install w/Symantec AntiVirus Corporate and Spybot S&D immunization I now receive "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." when attempting to start service.
Exerpt from Hijack This log:
O23 - Service: Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
O23 - Service: Network Location Awareness (NLA) NlaMDM (NlaMDM) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ahuio.
O23 - Service: Automatic Updates (wuauserv) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\
sfc /scannow results in several files to be installed. A slipstreamed copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 prompts for "Insert your Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD now." After pressing Retry the program continues until it hits another file to copy. Again Retry always continues the program but upon completion running sfc /scannow again prompts for files. Would a bad CD produce these results?
What files a necessary for the AutoUpdate, BITS and NLA services and can they be extracted from CD and manually installed?
