Hi , I use drag & drop in windows vista and by mistake I drag desktop icon and drop it in another desktop icon so I end up with many desktop icon and I can not delete any of them , also I get error message when i try to access dcuments .....I attach snip to look at , I used system restore did not solve it ?any idea please .

Open command line prompt and navigate to desktop.
Open taskmanager and kill the explorer process.
Then with 'del' followed by the name of the file you wish to delete.
Return to the taskamanager and click File -> New task and enter explorer.exe
Is this resolve your problem?
If this doesn't work try CCleaner, or something similar.
And again try to delete.

Well .. here's what's going on. There are some solutions here for you to try that raise your security level and should allow the deletion of the extra desktop folder.
One thing that nobus brought up .. you'll wanna make sure the information that is in the desktop folder resides somewhere else on your computer before deleting it.

Hi
You are suffering from a rights problem. You'll need to login with an account that has administrator rights to remove the icon from your desktop. What you've done is copied the Desktop folder to the Desktop.
Also, Universal Access Control (UAC) is implemented in Vista. With UAC, you may need open the Windows Explorer with the "Run as Administrator" option. Then delete the icon.
If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll give you step by step instructions. If so, two things we need to know. Do you have an administrator account? If not, can you access an administrator account.
