Issue is quota.  Check your quota, limit verses actual data....data is higher.

Please understand you need to provide enough information about your problem so that the person commenting is not just guessing.

Brand , model, rom version.
run Check disk
do a backup , and reinstall the drive configuration .

*** NAS *** OR SAN File System?  See below..  Not the same technology or troubleshooting approach?

Type of raid 1 -5 --- for IBM ServeRAID?

Can you and have you done a backup of the Drive?? ******** Critical **********

IBM TotalStorage SAN File System   http://www-01.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/totalstorage-sfs/

It views and manages files and file systems as a centralized IT resource with a single point of administrative control. Supports centralized policy-based storage management.

What Is NAS?  http://compnetworking.about.com/od/itinformationtechnology/l/aa070101a.htm

NAS challenges the traditional file server approach by creating systems designed specifically for data storage. Instead of starting with a general-purpose computer and configuring or removing features from that base, NAS designs begin with the bare-bones components necessary to support file transfers and add features "from the bottom up."

Like traditional file servers, NAS follows a client/server design. A single hardware device, often called the NAS box or NAS head, acts as the interface between the NAS and network clients. These NAS devices require no monitor, keyboard or mouse. They generally run an embedded operating system rather than a full-featured NOS. One or more disk (and possibly tape) drives can be attached to many NAS systems to increase total capacity. Clients always connect to the NAS head, however, rather than to the individual storage devices.

Clients generally access a NAS over an Ethernet connection. The NAS appears on the network as a single "node" that is the IP address of the head device.

A NAS can store any data that appears in the form of files, such as email boxes, Web content, remote system backups, and so on. Overall, the uses of a NAS parallel those of traditional file servers.

NAS systems strive for reliable operation and easy administration. They often include built-in features such as disk space quotas, secure authentication, or the automatic sending of email alerts should an error be detected.

You cannot enforce qoutas on WIndows Servers by directories but rather ONLY by volumes.

How are you connecting to your server? AFP or SMB?

Admin the account, would rarely have Quotas set unless it set for everyone group but Not in IBM SAN technology .  The lack of events and or log file information from the Author real make it hard to know what the ISSUE IS.

Quota is based on user/group on each per volume. Check the quota limits again for the user account in question and any group that the user account is associated with.

Does it matter what machine you are logged into? Are you getting the same issue from one machine to another?

by: AlexSam0806Posted on 2009-05-31 at 19:46:54ID: 24514790

When you say no data, do mean literally no data exists or that there is no space left on the volume?

Sorry did not catch the R2 comment.

I have just removed all quota's from the machine

I have this issue on just this Nas Server and just this drive

Actuall there has to be data but now it shows 0 bytes

In R2 we have this new Quota feature that we can set quota's per folder...
Say we have 10 folders we can give size as per requirment for each folder in 1 single drive

by: AlexSam0806Posted on 2009-06-01 at 06:50:24ID: 24517426

You say there has to be data, but IS there data now? I don't want to seem like I'm beating a dead horse or anything, but we have been going on the assumption that there is actually data on the partition.

If you open the drive and there is no data, well that's the issue, No data mean 0 bytes and therefore needs to be restored from a backup.

If you open the drive and there is data and still showing up as 0 bytes, then we need to narrow things down a little and find the cause.

If you log on to the server directly doe it show 0 bytes? If you map a drive to it from another machine does it register as 0 bytes.  Does it matter if you are an administrator?

Where is it that you are seeing 0 bytes? Please be specific.

And as Jsoup asked what raid is being used for the IBM ServerRAID?

If I seem like I'm ass, I'm sorry I just want to help, but don't like get have the information need to help or pull teeth to get the information needed.

For Author bsharath

It is likely this problem is a hard failure of a drive data structure on the IBM TotalStorage.  The Author Belive the unit is a NAS model IBM TotalStorage.  His only Access is through Windows 2003 R2 Sp2. Meaning the only information He gets is through the Network connection as a map network drive.

No further troubleshooting is passable without connecting as ADMIN to the unit "NAS model IBM TotalStorage " for Hardware information.

Raid has failed in some way..
