Cannot get on the internet with IE or FF

I can not get on the internet with any browser. I cannot get to router (192.168.1.1) with browser. I can go to command promt and ping router, 4.2.2.2, and yahoo.com, but I cannot ping the dhcp/dns server. I look at the error log and find a lot of Event ID 1542  Windows cannot load Classes Registry file errors. I have reset tcp/ip and winsock. Flushed DNS etc. I have no firewall on and have unistalled my antivirus software. I also have disabled ipv6. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

When did this start?  You could try doing a System Restore to a day before the problem started.

I tried to do a restore. It did not work. This is a friends computer and there were viruses on it when she gave it to me which I cleaned without being able to get on the internet. Her problem to me was that the machine had some viruses and she could not get on the internet.
Hi,

Are you behind a firewall? If not try this:

To confirm that its indeed an ARP issue, try to ping both the loopback address (127.0.0.1) and the local computers IP address. Then try to any other IP addresses such as those of Google.com or Yahoo.com. If you can ping to local IP address and loopback address, but not any other IP addresses, then this is the typical symptom of ARP cache failure.

Use the NetShell (netsh) command to clear, delete or refresh the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache by following the following steps.

1.Click on Start button.
2.Click on Run command and type Cmd into the Run text box, and then press Enter. For Windows Vista, type Cmd in Start Search, and then press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to force Administrator privileges. Enter Administrator user ID and password and allow any permission request when prompted.
3.In the Command Prompt window, type the following command then press Enter.
netsh interface ip delete arpcache

Let me know.

Rgds.

I can ping 127.0.0.1 ok. I can not ping 192.168.1.100 - General Failure. I can ping 192.168.1.1 - the router. I can ping 4.2.2.2 I can ping yahoo.com. I can ping 209.191.93.53 (Yahoo IP address). I can not ping the DHC/DNS Server 68.87.72.134. MS updates and Itunes update automatically downwoad.

I ran the delete arpcache for the heck of it and that did not help.
Are you sure that all the viruses/malware have been removed?  What programs(s) did you use to scan the computer?
How about.
Uninstall the network card, and reinstall it?
Then it recreates your TCP/IP & Lan-settings.

Can you please post the output of the "route print" command?

I used the existing Norton before I removed it. I also used Malwarebytes without any internet update. I uninstalled and reinstalled the network card (linksys wireless adapter) Note the ethernet connecton does not work either. Attached it the route print output. I am signing off for now - it is after midnight. I'll continue this tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far. P.S. if you know of a better virus removal program that I can put on my flash drive and run it I will try to do virus removal again.
Route-Table.txt
Try posting output of the route print command again.  The file you posted is empty.
download the Norton removal tool and run as administrator. I've seen Norton hose stuff up even after it's gone. Just like you are describing

i suggest you to use this program:
www.ultrareach.com/download_en.htm

you can use this software to surf internet.
it is very light, and does not harm your computer.

in my opinion, there is something wrong with your router setting. i suggest you to reset your router by pressing reset button.

and then you can set your router back. ^^

Safe mode with networking did not work. Running the NRT worked after I cleaned all viruses by removing the hard drive and putting it into another computer. The Norton Removal was the final answer
