There are 3 things I would recommend. I will explain them from the easiest to the most difficult.

First, make sure you are shutting down your computer properly. Do not hit the button on the front, but rather click the start button and click shut down. This will shut it down properly and should not make this screen appear.

Second, put the Windows XP install disk in the computer and start it up. When it asks to hit a key, do so. Continue through the setup until it scans for previous operating systems. It should list your Windows operating system. Do the repair on this one. You may need your CD key.

Third, put the Windows XP install disk in the computer and start it up. When it asks to hit a key, do so. Do not go through the install process this time. Instead, on the first screen, hit "R" to repair the computer in the console. When the console loads it may ask you what hard drive. Usually it is the first. When you get to be able to type in the console type the following without quotes "chkdsk /r". This may take a few hours.

If all three of these are done properly, all the windows files should be reset, and the computer should boot properly.

That normally happens when the PC is not shutdown properly.

Assuming that you are shutting down the PC properly,so this is not the cause.

You could try an XP repair if you have the OS installation disk. I would back up any important files before hand just incase. However, it should not affect any of your files, only system files.

Exactly,Goldsim has a point.Make sure you are shutting down your comuter properly.Just not switch off the main power.

Make sure that when you click Start -> Shutdown you select shutdown rather than suspend or hybernate.

Is the computer going into a hybernate mode and then it is being forced off because it will not come out of hybernation?

Try running a test.  Start the computer up to a desktop screen then select shutdown.
Wait for it to completely shutdown then turn it on again do you get the boot screen?
