how to connect to the remote server

I forgot the command to connect to the remote machine as if I am sitting infront of it.
Can someone give me that?

Are you talking about Remote Desktop?

several ways to do that, but the one that comes with Windows is RDP (remote desktop protocol). it is under Start > All Programs > Accessories. It is called Remote Desktop Connection. Depending on the version of windows youwill find it under Accessories or System Tools which is also located under Accessories.  Type in the IP Address of the computer you want to connect to and you are good to go.

If you want to use third party utilities, you can try LogMeIn  or Bomgar.

If you're sitting directly in front of a Windows 2003 system you want to login to, you should be able to view the login screen which typically requires you to press CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time.

If you're at a system wanting remote access to another system, it depends on the application you use for remote administration.  In the Windows world, you usually use Remote Desktop (typically found under Accessories -->  Communication).

I think they're right, you can go to Remote Desktop in the Start Menu, but I think what you're asking for is the actual Console session.

I do this by typing in

mstsc /v SERVERNAME /CONSOLE


The /CONSOLE gives you the actual desktop you'd be using sitting right in front of it.
