The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Installed new drive. How to make it a primary drive?

hi, my pc is Dell Dimension M510, running windows xp media ... I bought it a few years back.
I bought a new hard drive, it's a hitachi 1T....The one that came w/ the system has only 80Gig, so I'd like to make this new one a default drive. I installed it, boot up my pc, run Norton Ghost to copy everything from the old one to this new one.  Shut down, go to CMOS to find the option to make this Hitachi to be the primary one...I browse thru everything but I can't see any "boot sequence" option for me to select, I do see that it shows I have 2 drive: the old one and the new Hitachi one, but i can't switch them...
Is there another way for me to do this? I even tried to unplug the sata cable that connect to my old one, and plug into the new one - still doesn't work, it just show a black screen when i boot it up ... i even tried to unplug the old one, remove it off the case and used only the new one, still won't work ...

Now windows7 is out, i'd like to install on this new drive  since it has more space ...
Could someone please let me know how to do this?

Also, will win7 work on my pc? it's a Dell Dimension M510 - it has 4gig of Rams, and a brand new 512Mg video card...
