Can I upgrade from Windows Vista ultimate 64bits to Windows 7 Pro 64bits or I have to go to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits?

If it's Vista Ultimate the only inplace upgrade is to Windows 7 ultimate

You can still do a "Custom Upgrade" from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Pro, which is really just a clean installation.

I think Microsoft just wants your extra $20.

I mentioned that in case people thought that it wasn't possible to use a Vista Ultimate installation as an upgrade path for Windows 7 Pro, despite having to do a clean install.

Doing a clean install is not an upgrade it's a clean install!!!

Difference being upgrades keep all applications, settings, files clean installs don't!

The question specifically asked if it was possible to upgrade!
