I have a corrupt Registry in Windows 7 and it will not boot. The Start-up Repair diagnostic report tells me that. The following is what I get when I try to get a Command prompt to work.
I cannot seem to get a Command prompt to work in C drive . Just the X drive.
X:\windows\system32\
X:\windows\system32\cd /C <(I input the cd C:)
C:\ <(this is as close to C drive as I caN GET)
X:\windows\system32\ <this is the only command line available to me and it won't work
I have a list of Win 7 commands, but I cannot access the C drive. as you can see above.
It manages to do a start up repair but tells me that I have a corrupt registry and to contact the administrator. It also says that Startup Repair cannot fix this PC.
So my QUESTION IS: How do I manage to repair this corrupt registry? Are there any tools out there yet for Win 7 like UBCD4W for XP? Can some one tell me what I am missing?
System Restore has no restore points. I no longer have any backup images. I was running out of space and accidentally deleted ALL of the backups instead of just the oldest ones.
The version I have is V. 7057 BETA. I have been using it for at least 6 months.
Thanks in advance

thank you folks.
I have already done the "startup Repair option and as I said the result is " Windows cannot repair this system". As well as "Registry is corrupt" I have done this no less than 30 times today.
A repair install looks good to me but The PC does not boot AT ALL It just keeps recycling a reboot after it automatically does its star-up repair. No matter what I choose in the F8 Menu, it automatically does a start up repair., always failing to repair it.
I have been sitting at th PC ALL DAY LONG. The results have not changed. I just wish it would try to boot for more thaN 30 SECONDS BEFORE IT GOES INTo the start up repair mode. it does this without any prompting from me.
No offense intended, but to my way of thinking, to reinstall ANY OS without having tried every available option and also to learn for the next time) would not be a wise course of action.. I ALWAYS ignore suggestions to reformat very early in a thread. To what end? I believe It must only be a last resort. Only til we tried everything the thread offered, was it prudent to reformat. Reformatting and reinstallion must be the absolute last option.
ust as you offered your opinion, and this time it happened to be correct, that is my opinion. You are welcome to all of it, some of it, or none of it .
How to avoid this sort of situation arising in the first place - image it!
I used to re-install windows every few months because I do too much experimentation and totally wreck the OS.
Then I was persuaded to part with the best $49 I ever invested.
My happy experience:

I am not sure how to repair the Registry outright, aside of reinstalling but your could mount the drive to another working machine and copy your data over. Reinstall the final release product of Windows 7 and move your data back over.

Without any sort of backup it is tough to rebuild something like the registry from scratch.
Have you tried the advanced boot options from the F8 menu? Win7, creates a small WinRE restore partition with all installs. Pressing F8, and then selecting 'Repair my computer', will boot into this WinRE partition.

Step 1.Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment(WinRE)
==========================
To run the Startup Repair tool by using Windows 7 installation disc
1. Insert the installation disc.
2. Restart the computer. To do this, click Start, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.
3. Set your language preference, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair to start the repair process.
7. When the repair process is complete, click Finish.
