Yes, you should be able to install almost any 32-bit software. For applications that will not run in 7, and were designed for XP (less than 5% of applications you'll end up using), there are ways to get around this. If you have Windows 7 Professional, or Ultimate, there is an XP Virtualization mode you can use to run software that wouldn't normally work in Windows 7.
Short answer: There's about a 99% chance that the software you're trying to install will work just fine (UNLESS it's something like iTunes and you have drivers for some device like an iphone that need to also be 64-bit)
