if you know what it is, and just want to change it,   its in the BIOS
at power on while the Dell screen is there   press <del>  or <F2> to enter setup and find the password in the menu.

Its a lost password, i cant remember it. Is there any bypass or master reset password
BIOS password?  On the motherboard, there is a jumper to reset the bios password.  You change the jumper and the password is removed.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
Bios password on a Laptop inspiron 1545 - where is the jumper?
Is it the BIOS Password you are needing or the User Password?  (ie does the computer boot at all or are you instantly getting a password prompt?)

Please read previous posts before commenting.

LAPTOP INSPIRON 1545
BIOS PASSWORD REQUIRED
MACHINE DOES NOT BOOT WITHOUT IT,
NO BOOT EVEN FROM AN EXTERNAL DEVICE
I read the previous posts

the reason I ask is flashing the BIOS will solve your problem, I'm just trying to determine the best way to get the new BIOS in to the machine

Since it is the user password I'm not sure you can even boot from a CD

but please try

after power on the machine   repeatedly F12 until you get a boot menu or other result

please let me know what result you do get.

Oh and stop biting the hand that is trying to help you.

Just for S&G try Dell ass the BIOS password
We dont have this model so I cant take one apart and look.  But if you pop off the faeplates, you may find the jumper switch.  I listed possible labels above.
i agree with chilternPC; on modern laptops, the password is NOT stored in the Bios, but in a security chip (ANTI-THEFT) and is very difficult to remove, with out the proper tools and knowledge from Dell.
In most cases it requires a new mobo.
passwords must be remebered - not forgotten !
" But if you pop off the faeplates, you may find the jumper switch.  I listed possible labels above." - this is really for desktops, most laptops do not have jumpers
Dell alone can help in this regard. There is always a master reset password with dell that works always
