I need to know how to use WDS to mass deploy windows 7.
OK I need to know how to use WDS to deply over 40 Workstations at once.
I will have a massive roolout and need to use the tools in WDS.
I have used RIS in the past but now I need the WDS to work winth windows 7.
So how do I configure it on a windows server.
Do I need it to be on a domain controler, can it be ona member server.
can it be on the same server as WSUS?
thanks in advance

OK Finally got back to this question.
Well the link above was less than helpfull and I need some toehr help with this matter

Avatar of Lee W, MVPLee W, MVP๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Did you have WDS installed? ย Are you saying the link didn't help you install it? ย My impression is you needed help installing WSUS - once installed, loading images and creating a multicast is easy...

If you would like to be more explicit about how the link was less than helpful, perhaps better information could be offered.

I need to install and config the product.
I used to do RIS but this is a whole different beast (WDS)

So your saying the link I provided - with pictures, descriptions, and step by step instructions didn't help you? ย What about it was confusing?

It did not seem to work. I tried it but the systems wont boot and I do not believe that the images are correctly created.
There is something flawed. maybee because the illustration ius using windows 2003 not server 2008 or something like that

Avatar of Lee W, MVPLee W, MVP๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The illustration is clearly using Server 2008 so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
The title of the article is Installing Windows Deployment Services (WDS) on Server 2008

If you installed it correctly and it's not booting, then I suspect your DHCP settings are misconfigured
