Offline files - Windows 7 Pro

On a Win7 Pro desktop client accessing data on a Server 2003 shared folder I, as an experiment, enables offline files. I subsequently disabled offline files.
Now I cannot access some of the subfolders. "Access denied". I tried on another workstation but no joy. It seems to have locked up some subfolders at the server level.
This is the case even on the Server when logged in as Administrator.
I tried changing permissions, sharing, etc but am told that I can take ownership but that dosn't help.
Any ideas?

Enable offline files again, move files to a new location first, and then disable offline files.

I did the simple thing - restored from backup to new location.

Seemed the simplest solution.
Points are cheap and I did offer a valid solution, even if you chose another method.
You did indeed offer a solution but I did not validate that it worked. This causes me a problem in awarding points.
If this is important to you I will reconsider but it would be on the basis of "solution accepted but not tried".

A fair point. If we are not incentivised to help each other our collective geese may well be cooked.
Points to you sir/madam/ms!
