DNS Caching issue, incorrect internet records being returned from nslookup

Asked by Popeyediceclay in Windows 2000 Server, Domain Name Service (DNS)

Hello experts,

I'm having an issue where an internet domain, like update.microsoft.com, changes their IP address and my internal DNS servers aren't updating their cache.  This is just my suspision, I can't really prove that this is what's happening.  However, I can solve the problem by clearing the cache manually in the DNS console but should I really need to do that every time this happens to any record?  I have the servers setup with just the root-hints and my internal domains, no forwarders to our ISP, which has been working fine for years until the past few months.  What also bugs me is that I have a website of it's own forrest but configured the same which resolves the changes correctly, that makes me wonder if I have a bug on the internal domain.

Any thoughts?
