No Logon to domain after computer name conflict?

Client OS: Windows 2000
Server: Windows Server 2000

A new computer that was being added to the Active Directory was given the same computer name as an old computer already on the network. The new computer was renamed and a new machine added in AD, the new machine can now log on OK.

However the old computer on the network will no longer log on to the domain saying that the system cannot log me on. The Computer name matches that in the active directory and the user exists, it seems that after the conflict it will simply not log on. Any Ideas?
