Remove a computer form active directory and uninstall exchange server 2003

I have a domain controller with windows 2000 server installed on it.
I have another box with server 2003 installed. This also has Exchange server 2003 installed.

When I open exchage server and look at the 'servers' it shows TWO exchange servers, not one.

Sometime ago another PC was added to the network (it was called exchange) and it had exchange installed on it. It wasn't on for long and exchange was never really used, no one used it, no one connected to it etc.

The domain controller still has this PC listed and I can't deleted it.

What I am wanting to do is
a/ delete this exchange pc from my network all together
b/ uninstall exchange server 2003 from the new machine (everytime I do this several files, directories and registry entries remain - some of the files it won't allow me to delete)

reinstall exchnge and start anew.

Problems - If I go to the active directory (on either the domain controller or the exchange server) and try to delete the original exchange machine it says

"Object exchange is a container and contains other objects. Are you sure you want to delete object exchange and the objects it contains"

I click "yes"

Then I get

"The object (or some of the object it contains) cannot be deleted because: Insufficient access rights to perform the operation"

I am logged in an adminstrator and I have also logged in with the adminstrator account and tried it. I can delete other un-used computers

So, how do I remove 'exchange' and how do I completely uninstall exchange server
