How do I enable audit trail logging to watch for deletion of files on a file server?

Hi.

Similar requirement to http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Misc/Q_23018131.htm

My users use the MS Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to add annotations to TIF files.

When saving, the app creates a temp file with a new name, a lock file, deletes the original file, renames the temp file, deletes the lock file.

I need to differentiate between the application doing that and the user simply deleting the original file by hand.

I cannot stop the deletion through access rights as the app __NEEDS__ delete access.

I don't have time to learn the "big picture" on this, so a quick list of steps would be great.

Thank you.
