I'm a newbie so please bare with me if I happen to make no sense.
We have a child domain, which is no longer physcially present at our company (the physical servers have been removed). Yet, the user accounts under this domain still show up in our Global Catalog list.
And also in AD user's and computers when you search under the child domain in question. Although you cannot actually open up the properties of any of the accounts. AD just hangs if you try, and it cannot resolve the server since it's no longer there.
My question is how do you properly get rid of the child domain, and which precautions if any, do I need to take before hand? And also is this a task I should do after hours as it will take a long time to dismount or Delete the child domain?
