How to update GPs without logging on/off

Asked by smithware in Windows 2000 Server

Hey all,

I have created a GP setting my connection proxy settings for a particular OU.  I have also locked users from editing them.  I have two OUs set up, Proxied Users   and Non-Proxied Users.  I'd like to be able to move users (on the fly) from the Proxied group (which locks connection settings) to the Non-Proxied group (still has proxy settings, but users can then disable them if needed) and have the policies be enforced without logging off.  These are user policies, not computer policies.  I have tried using gpupdate from the client computer.  I would like, preferably to be able to use something like:
        c:\psexec gpupdate

or
        c:\rgprefresh /t:user /force
to update the settings from another XP workstation (or the server if I need to).
Neither of these (local or remote gpupdate) work without the user logging off and then back on.  Any methods to try?Start Free Trial
