Local and Domain logon problems after motherboard died

Asked by Stev0W in Windows 2000 Server, Computer Servers

Tags: , , ,

I have been asked by a client to repair a test windows 2000 server (P4 Workstation).  He has some new programs and configurations that he is testing before installing on his main server. The motherboard is broken and goes in to a re-boot cycle before getting in to the O/S. I imaged the drive using Acronis
TrueImage server with universal restore (can restore to any hardware). When I put the imaged drive in to a new PC it boots the O/S as far as the logon screen. My problem is I can not log in the server either locally or as administrator on the Domain. Local logon gives me the error 'The system could not log you on now because the domain 'Local machine' is not available'  ' and the Domain logon 'The system can not log you on due to the following error: The network location cannot be reached. I have run the 2000 CD in recovery consul and can log in to windows there. Any help would be appreciated as I really don't want to have to rebuild it if possible.

Thanks
