I'm not a Mac expert but you can try this.

Open a terminal, go to your home folder and launch this command:

ls -a

there should be a folder  .enturage or similar.
Delete it with command
rm -r .enturage

Now launch enturage again and reconfig it as you need.

the only entourage folder I have is in
Library-Caches-metadata-microsoft-entourage
is this what have to delete

Have you tried doing a frame by frame compare of the preferences and Account settings between the one that's working and the one that's not?

Also, when you did the reinstall, I'd actually remove the old Office first and then do the reinstall. Run the Remove Office app under additional tools in Finder->Applications

by: Ceto06Posted on 2009-05-21 at 02:51:57ID: 24439558

yes this is exactly what I have done. I have deleted the cache folder waiting for the entourage to get sync again

Does Entourage appear to be attempting to sync or does it just set there?

Have you tried to do a manual Send and receive from the Tools menu?

Have you checked the Junk folder to make sure that it's not being sent to there?  We have a new Mac user in house and every email I would send her would either not show up or disappear... we eventually found all of them in the Junk folder... wonder what that says about me?

by: homepupPosted on 2009-05-21 at 11:21:37ID: 24444358

First, make sure you don't have a filter of some sorts set that's keeping you from viewing new email.

Can check this by looking at the View options under the main menu header (make sure "View Unread Only" is not checked, etc.) Also make sure that you don't have it sorting the inbox list by something odd, like read messages, so that the unread ones are at the bottom or in the middle of the list. Easy to miss if you have 1000s of emails in the inbox. Also check that you don't have the panel showing the inbox emails sorted by date sent or reverse the sorting or something odd like that.

If you determine that it isn't an odd setting somewhere in Entourage, you can ditch the database file and download a new version from the Exchange server. I've found rebuilding the database file to work 10% of the time and I usually resort to ditching the database and getting a clean copy from the server.

To ditch it, close Entourage. Then go to ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities/Main Identity/Database and delete that file. Reboot.

When you open Entourage after the reboot, you will need to re-enter all the account settings for the Exchange account. It will then re-download a fresh database. Expect this to take anywhere from a couple of hours to days depending on how much data you have. Be patient. Pull up the Progress window to see how it is progressing. Again, think DAYS to download. You can close Entourage even if it hasn't finished and it should pickup where it left off, but if you're able, I'd leave it running to completion for best results.

This is very perplexing. I don't know of any way to force that one folder to not sync and even if there is, it's something that you would specifically have to do.

You might try uninstalling it again and do a reboot between the uninstall and reinstall.

If that still does not fix the problem, I'd say you're down to a reload of the OS.  I'd start with the least destructive which is an Archive and Install where you opt to save all of your personal and network settings.  You will have to have your install disks and you will have to patch it back up to what ever level you are at now.

I believe this will be the only solution....

You didn't tried what i said in my first message.

Try it IN A CONSOLE, not in graphical environment and look well at .entourage (dot)entourage.

by: jhyieslaPosted on 2009-05-24 at 17:41:24ID: 24463694

I would have suggested that in the beginning, but you indicated that you have another Mac that is working OK regarding your InBox. I'm not an Entourage guru, but I really don't know of anyway that it would sync everything except the inbox. ..not even sure if that's possible.  You I might suggest that perhaps some setting in the other mac is influencing what this one sees to download... like it moved it to the Mac and out of the Exchange server so there is nothing to sync with...but you indicated that OWA shows items in the inbox.

Still it might be worth a look at the preferences on the other mac.

by: homepupPosted on 2009-05-24 at 17:49:57ID: 24463720

Did you try making a new user account on the Mac displaying the problem and set up the Exchange account under that Mac user account? Might let you know if it is account specific.

by: Ceto06Posted on 2009-05-24 at 22:45:46ID: 24464556

I tried with another mac account on this airbook, problem is same, inbox is not sync, the rest of the of the subfolder is ok... but I can see still all the emil on the OWA

by: jhyieslaPosted on 2009-05-25 at 05:13:24ID: 24466115

This probably isn't it, but check you Junk Email protection level from the top screen Entourage menu under Tools.  If it's at any level other than Off, set it to Off and see if that makes a difference.

by: jhyieslaPosted on 2009-05-25 at 05:14:41ID: 24466119

Did you try comparing all settings between the Mac where Entourage works and the one where it doesn't?

by: Ceto06Posted on 2009-05-28 at 01:31:21ID: 24490736

still having the same problem but it seems the problem is from Exchange server, we found out there is a virus attack on it.

by: jhyieslaPosted on 2009-05-28 at 07:30:24ID: 24493626

A virus on the Exchange server would obviously come into play, but I find the symptoms you are seeing very odd... even with a possible virus running around on the Server.
