We have a user that has a VPN site using Cisco 871 to our Cisco 3825.
If we put either his router or our DNS routers in the network DNS settings the laptop can connect to the internet from the VPN site.
There are a few problems with this.
1) When he takes the laptop somewhere else it cant connect to the network/internet there. 2) when logging on, without applying the DNS settings and logging outside of his VPN connection (For example standalone, no network) when he is at logon "applying settings" it can take from 5-15 minutes.
Why od you need to specify teh dns settings within the network connection, can they not be recieved from the dhcp server issuing the Ip? if its a name resolution issue can you not edit the hosts file to remove this issue?
well if you need to have the dns settings entered this problme will alwats remain as the machine will try and contact that dns server for name resolution which if unavaiable will cause teh net not to work.
I think you need to re work the problem and identify why you need to enter the dns settings, otherwise you will need to kepp adding and removing them in order to get to a working machine
