The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Joining Win2003 Server to a Win2K Domain

Asked by mmedwid in Windows 2003 Server

Tags: join, win2k

Asking this for a friend.  Can someone please send the step for joining a Win2003 server to a Win2K domain?  If you see other subtleties in his question - please comment.  Thanks:

This is the situation: We currently have a W2000 Small Business Server (SBS)
running our internal domain (xyz.com).

We purchased a scanner that is supposed to store (and serve to the current
network users) images in a brand new Dell Poweredge 2800 (including 4 drives
in a RAID 5 configuration),  running W2003 SBS.
The issue is that the W2003 SBS installation process does not allow for
joining the existing W2000 SBS domain.

Installing W2003 SBS is a 2 step process, first the OS is installed, then
the SBS functionality follows.

My questions are:

1. Can I install another OS that supports RAID 5 and does not run into a
limited number of connections (file sharing)?
2. Is there an easy way to have W2003 SBS join the W2000 SBS domain? I have
asked MS tech support for help... someone in India suggested a long and
tedious process!

I've attempted to ignore installation of the W2003 SBS (stopping after the
OS is installed), however, messages get repeatedly broadcasted to the
existing domain users announcing a license violation... very annoying!
