cluster DHCP

I need to know if it is possible to use DHCP in a cluster. I was told that if you had 2 DC's and they were mirrored in a cluster that you could use a virtual ip. I am confused as to what he means, but I always thought that you could not use anything but a static IP address for each server in the cluster. I have never read that you could use a vitual IP. Is this true? and can you use a DHCP address? This is what I was told, but it made no sense to me. Please help, with any info on this. Maybe2003 now allows this, but I have never seen anything on it, and I tried to loook it up today, but with no success.

Both nodes need static addresses.  The virtual IP is one that is shared for the purposes of failover.

So how did the idea of DHCP ever come into play. I was always told no DHCP. I assume this is still the case.
OK, I finally understood the problem, and maybe this makes more sense. Can you run the DHCP service on a cluster that uses 2 DC's that are mirrored, so if one server fails the DHCP service will failover on the other server. The question is can you run the DHCP service on a cluster? I hope this sounds better. I thought the question was posed to me wrong, as you would never use DHCP IP on any server, especially a DC. If the IP changed no one would be able to reach the serve, so is it workable to run the DHCP service on a DC that is mirrored in a cluster, so if one server fails the DHCP service will failover to the other part of the mirror. Thanks.

As mentioned, yes - you can run the DHCP service on a cluster.  There are some specific things that must be done, but it works fine.
