The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. SBS 2003 2 NICS Exchange 2003

I have a Dell PowerEdge 1800 server running SBS 2003 Premium.  I have Exchange 2003 setup and running on the server. I have a home network consisting of 2 Servers (SBS2003, Win2k), 2 Desktops running Win2k/WinXP  & 2 Laptops running WinXP. I am using a static IP via Westel 6100 DSL modem (verizon.net).  I would like to bring the Westel 6100 modem through the 2nd NIC on the SBS 2003 server and utilitize ISA for my firewall.  Everytime I enable the 2nd NIC, my clients that are connected to the Exchange Server 2003 using Outlook 2003, immediately lose visibility to the Exchange 2003 server.  However, they can still access the Internet without any problem.

I am running AD and the primary NIC is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet. The secondary NIC is an Intel PRO/1000 MT. I am running WINS and DNS with all clients pointing to the SBS 2003 192.168.xxx.219 as the DNS/WINS server.

I need to know why Exchange 2003 loses connectivity when enabling the 2nd NIC. Are there settings I am missing in Exchange 2003 or SBS 2003 or ????
