With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. File save as problem when opeing through web front end

HI All,
I am logging this question through the O/S topic as I feel the issue is due to a file permissions issue (possibly) but in simple the problem I face is as follows.....

I have a website (intranet) that runs on windows server 2003 / Apache 2  One of the links on the site goes to a php page that shows the conmtent of a directory on the webserver.  This works fine and you can see the microsoft word documents no problem and when you click the document it opens fine.

However if you amend the document and then try to click the "save" button, you are instantly asked to "save-as" and to the local pc you are working on? even when the drive the doc is on is also mapped to the pc also (mainly for saving new docs to the server fileshare area) Is there a way of baing able to make certain that anyone who opens the file through the web front-end can click save and it will save to the original document? I am trying to make certain that we do not make extra copies of any of the files...

Please help if possible, this is fairly urgent I have a deadline to go-live
