Change Network Card / IP in SBS 2003

We have a SBS 2003 server with 2 Network Cards (1 is gigabit & the other 100Mbit/s). The gigabit card has the server's IP address assigned (192.168.1.1) and the 100Mbit card is not in use and has been deactivated.

We are having network problems - read/writes from clients to server. We believe it is to do with the gigabit NIC. We would like to activate the 100Mbit card and deactivate the gigabit using the same IP address - how can this been done?

p.s. we tried doing this manually i.e. deactivated the gigabit NIC, assigned the TCP/IP settings to the 100Mbit card & activated it. Things kind of worked - the slow networking problems disappeared (read/writes), but lots of other problems occured i.e. DNS, DHCP issues. We obviously did something wrong ;o)

Many thanks for your help on this one.

Did you restart the server after the IP address change?  or you might possibly just need to restart the services that are complaining.
