The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

hp thin client t5000 and server 2003 terminal server client, printing

hello,

we have the request to sandbox the hp thin clients and how they connect to terminal server 2003.

our setup is like this:

branch office:
hp laserjet 3030 connected to an hp jetdirect, ip printing.
some hp thin clients (t5000's, some flavor of linux)
some hp deskpro workstations (333mhz pieces of junk, windows 98)

server locations:
8 terminal servers with thier own outside ip addresses
all run server 2003 and have about 100 licenses each.

what i did so far:
the deskpro's are out of this example, they all work fine and print fine.

the t5000's, i can get them to connect to the terminal servers just fine...
i can print from the t5000 to the ip printer just fine, but only before i connect to the server.

i need to be able to print from the remote session, to this ip printer that is local to the t5000.

i tried to carve a hole for port 9100  in the router and nat that to the ip of the jetdirect.  however, there's some external issue i have to track down, when i portscan that branch office's outside ip address, i dont see anything open, not even remote access to their router (port 88) which i know is open.  i'm taking that up with their isp.

however, if i can make the printer 'come with' the t5000 thin client into the connected remote desktop, that would be fine.  if not, i can create the printer on the remote server and have it come back thru the internet, once i figure out their inbound route issue.

bottom line question:  how do i have a local ip printer appear in the remote session of a thin client?
