If you try to take ownership of an entire folder, then there is a checkbox on the ownership screen to "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" This will take ownership of all files under that folder.

On a client's server the original owner of some files is deleted. It works to click "take ownership" on the security tab, but there are quite a few files like this so I'd rather not have to click on each and every one.
What is the easiest way to transfer ownership for a number of files to administrator (when logged in as administrator) ?
I tried something like "xcacls filename /G administrator:OF" to transfer ownership to administrator and give "Full Control" to administator, but I get error message "access denied".
