The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hello Guys,
I have 2 DC win2003 that till yesterday night were working fine.
One of those servers is hosting and Exchange Server and another one DATA to be shared for users (50)
I have some GPOs that were working perfectly and my event viewers on both DCs were clean.
Yesterday I downloaded GPMC and was playing a little with it and I came across a message saying that I need to copy the policies from place to place. It was giving me a script I needed to run . I swear I cant remember the Script name ,... It was provided int the GPMC folder (c:\program files\gpmc\scripts\
maybe SetGPOCreationPermissions.wsf or GrantPermissionOnAllGPOs.wsf.
I  had to run this script (as it was saying) because the GPO was not being properly read or something....
Oh ! God ! I wish I had read the message properly....!!!
anyway...
what happened is that everything was fine (or seemed fine.)
till today. I came to work to discover a series of errors in my event viewer.
eventi ID 1053 userenv
message :Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

and that was every 5 minutes.

I went to the other server and error 1059 DHCP Server
Message : The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization.

none of the user could log in to the network...
I re-started the servers (thing that I rarely did ...last time I did was 67 days ago ! )
and it took for ever to start....
but at the end it started...
the users are working back "nearly normaly".

but the server is giving me the same errors every 5 min
Error : UserEnv
Number 1058
Message : Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=slid-sal,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\slid-sal.com\sysvol\slid-sal.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (Access is denied. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

then just after it
Error UserEnv
Number 1030
Message :Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.

and that every 5 min...

I googled a bit about this I and I think I did something bad yesterday...
but how to fix this????
This is what I did so far guys.. please help me...

I went to a client and run RSOP.msc and found out that it seems that the policies are being applied...
( I can see the policies names at the right of each settings...)
then from the client I can browse the folder
\\domain\sysvol
I can see in there many folders and I can access them....

what is the problem ??

Please help
