I have to do a migrate tonight at a client's location. They have 2 domain controllers running Windows 2000 Server.
DC Server Services
1. Domain Controller
2. DHCP
3. WINS
4. SQL Server
5. Jive Messenging Server
6. Veritas backup server
Mail Server Services
1. Domain Controller
2. Exchange Server 2000
3. VPN Services
4. WINS
I have setup 2 New Windows Server 2003 SBS Boxes, ECPDC and ECPMAIL. The ECPDC is going to replace the DC server and the ECPMAIL will replace the MAIL server.
So far on the ECPDC I have done all updates, promoted it as a Domain Controller, and Seized the FSMO roles. On the ECPMAIL, I have done all the updates and install exchange 2003 software
I need somebody to give me steps, advice, and tips on how to complete the migration. I have the document from microsoft on how to do these but i need more of a step by step thing. It doesn't have to go into details.
thankx.

Heres how to migrate Exchange: http://www.msexchange.org/
1) Apply the latest service packs to the Windows 2000 machines...
2) Prepare your Windows 2000 environment for Windows 2003 servers: http://www.msexchange.org/
I. Prepare your Network for Windows Server 2003
Regardless of how you intend to get to Exchange 2003, there are some basic steps that must be done.
Begin by reviewing Microsoft’s 314649 – “Windows Server 2003 adprep /forestprep Command Causes Mangled Attributes in Windows 2000 Forests That Contain Exchange 2000 Servers” This article explains that if you have Exchange 2000 installed in your organization, and you proceed with installing your first Windows Server 2003 system (and its accompanying schema modifications), you may end up with some mangled attributes in AD. Preventing this from happening is simple enough: a script called Inetorgpersonfix.ldf will do the trick.
Run adprep /forestprep from Windows Server 2003 CD on your Windows 2000 server that holds the Schema master FSMO role. (Of course you’ll need to be a member of Schema Admins). Be sure to replicate the changes throughout the forest before proceeding.
Run adprep /domainprep from Windows Server 2003 CD on your Windows 2000 server. I ran it on the system holding the PDC Emulator FSMO role.
Before bringing a new Windows Server 2003 system online, it’s a good idea to review your third-party server utilities and upgrade them to the latest versions to ensure compatibility. In my installation, this included the latest versions of BackupExec, Symantec Antivirus Corp. Edition, and Diskeeper.
Run setup /forestprep from the Exchange Server 2003 CD on the Windows 2000 server that holds the Schema master FSMO role. Replicate the changes throughout the forest.
Run setup /domainprep from the Exchange Server 2003 CD on a Windows 2000 server. Again, I ran it on the system holding the PDC Emulator role.
2) Run DCPROMO and add this new windows 2003 server as an additional DC to the existing domain.
3) Install DNS using ADD/remove programs on the new Windows 2003 DC
4) transfer the FSMo roles to the new DC: http://support.microsoft.c
5) Enable the new Windows 2003 Dc as a global catalog server: http://technet2.microsoft.
6) add DHCP to this new Windows 2003 server. Migrate the DHCP scopes to the Windows 2003 DC: http://support.microsoft.c
7) Add WINS...configure replication then break replication and shut down old WINS service...make sure all clients are using the NEW WINS server...
8) Perform Exchange Migration:http://www.msexc
9) remove old DC from the domain...run DCPROMO and choose remove DC role from this server. Then you can remove the server as a member server of the domain if you want to get rid of it forever. You may also refer to this document if you have trouble running DCPROMO to remove the server as a DC: http://support.microsoft.c
10) Steps for removing Exchange 2000 from your domain is included in the document listed in step 8.
hope some of this helps...

"I have setup 2 New Windows Server 2003 SBS Boxes" You can only have one SBS server per company.,... This statement seems like a problem to me...Plus all services (Exchange, SQL, etc) must remain on the SBS server...
