Browse All TopicsWe have 3 branch offices and one main office that we support using DFS. We have a new project that has just kicked off and we need to have 300GB of data put on a new DFS share. I am trying to find out if it is possible to pre_populate the branch offices with the data, would it be possible to send a USB drive to each of the offices and copy it to the server. I would like to do this so we do not have to wait so long for replication as well as take the load off of our internet line. If Microsoft DFS is not able to do this does anyone know of any better product that will allow for this.

what I am saying is plug in the USB onto the main office file server where the data is copy it and then send this to the branches. Once they all copy the data. Then you can start creating the DFS and schedule the data for replication.By doing this you would be avoiding the data copy betweeen your headoffice and branch offices.

yeah you can definately do that copy the data with a USB drive and then schedule the DFS to replicate as required.
