The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

SATA Raid Headache !!

Asked by SeventhZen in Windows 2003 Server

Hi Experts,

i am hoping someone can help as I have been working on this for two days now and I have to have the system setup in two days time.

I have a HP Proliant M110 server, without a floppy drive. I am having a real headache getting the controller to work with 2K3 without an onboard Floppy disk.
I have searched the forums already and found someone with an identical problem..
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Windows_Server_2003/Q_21590644.html?query=HP+Proliant+sata+raid+floppy&clearTAFilter=true

So I get a USB floppy, use the support disk that came with the server to copy the drivers onto a floppy.
Hit F6 at setup, specify the additional controller, so far so good. Goes through the setup process, choose relevant partition and then I get a message stating that "please insert disk labeled SATA Controller for Windows 32 Bit (2000, XP, 2003)". All I can do is press enter or quit but no matter what the system won't recognize the floppy disk connected to it, it is the same disk that I used to specify an additional controller but it just won't do anything. Then all I can do is restart and go back through the process again. I have tried everything I can think of and even downloaded a USB Key utility from HP which wasn't very helpful.

The support CD states that 2003 already has support for the HP Embedded Raid controller but if I leave it and don't specify an additional controller, setup doesn't find any hard drives.

I am stumped and like I said, now starting to sweat with this deadline is quickly approaching.

Anyone with any advice?
