Question

How do I check whether web site(s) are alive or not?

I look after a number of legacy  web sites (about 2000 odd) for my company. This infrustructure is sitting on a
cluster with IIS5 / Windows 2000.

Is there a way to get a script or a tool that will go through all the web sites on the server/cluster and do a
GET and tell us whether any of the web site(s) on the infrustructure is alive or not?

I have a list of this web sites in text format.

I used to use a tool called netoscope for remote testing of my web servers availability, it also has notification options.
