The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange mail/public folder stores not automatically mounting after server reboot

Asked by atassistro in Windows 2003 Server, Exchange Email Server

Hello all,

I have a problem that is annoying me to death.  I have spent countless hours on this and don't seem to get any resolution to the problem.

I have a legacy Exchange 2000 SP3 server running on a Dell 2650 Windows 2000 SP4 box.  I just built a brand new Exchange 2003 SP2 server on a 2650 with Windows 2003 Server R2 and it is now part of the existing exchange organization.  The new exchange server is connected via ISCSI to and EMC celerra NS350 NAS box.  When I installed exchange, I had no problems....applied service pack 2 and had no problems there either.  I moved the storage group and mail/public folder store DB files from the local C: disk to the NAS ISCSI LUN (no problems there either).  Now whenever I restart the new exchange server the mail/public folder stores don't mount automatically.  I get the following errors in the event viewer:

The funny thing is that after the computer boots normally, I can go into ESM and manually start the stores and everything is good.  Anyone have any good ideas as to why this is happening?

I thought it may be the ISCSI service not starting early enough for exchange to see the DB and log files, but I am pretty sure that isn't the case because the ISCSI service is dependent on the Server service.....which starts before all the Exchange services.  I have also checked the permissions on the DB and LOG folders for exchange and "everyone" has full control of the data files/folders.

Am I missing something here?  Please help.
