The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Two new email domains not being relayed on  Exchange 2003 Front End Server

Asked by ramsac_support in Windows 2003 Server, Exchange Email Server, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)

Currently I have a Microsoft Exchange 2003 Standard Front End Server and a Microsoft Exchange 2003 Enterprise Back End Server both running on Windows 2003 server R2 SP1

Issue: I recently added two new domains to the recipient policy within exchange and now the Exchange Front End server is not relaying these two new domains. On the front end server, I get an application event log:

Eventid 1040 Source:MSExchangeMU
Metabase Update failed replication 5 times with error 80070003 (The system cannot find the path specified.). Please change the diagnostic logging level of MSExchangeMU to 'minimum' or greater to find the source of the problem.

Also I get a bounce back message of 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay when email is sent this server.

I have added additional email domains to the recipient policies before with no problems.

I have used the Metabase Explorer utility on both exchange servers, on the front end server I had  discovered that under /LM/SmtpSvc/1/Domain/  that not all the domains in my domain recipient policy are listed. On the Back End Exchange server, in the same location it has the correct domains listed.

I can manually relay emails with the new domains on the back end server but not on the front end server so I changed my smtp feed to the back end server instead of the front end server to keep email working.

Any ideas on how  I can get the IIS Metabase Data in IIS to resync or recreated on the Front End Server?
