I haven't seen problems with BES on an exchange server - the problems come with load (as it runs MSDE or SQL, which will compete for RAM)

I have a client that wants to install a Blackberry Enterprise Server, currently the are running SBS 2003.
I was always under the impression that it had to be installed on a seperate box and could not be installed on the exchange server itself, however the client is insisting he has been informed it can go on the exchange server itself
Can anyone confirm the case.
Thanks
Nick

Also please note that you need to create a domain account that is not the domain admin or Exchange admin account because this will break you BES. I inherited the error and have to re-install because of it. Unfortunately I have to re-install on the Exchange Server.
On a separate note, when I re-install, are there any tips, hints, tricks, that anyone can think of for me to apply when re-installing.
You do not need to create a specific account for BES, it is merely recommended. If you remove the deny permissions on other mailboxes for domain admins, the domain account works fine.
Either way, you wouldn't need to reinstall, just repoint the services to the new account you setup (or fix your permissions) neither of which we can really help you with in someone elses question, so ask one by clicking the "Ask a Question" link at the top right

It is *possible* to same server install but REALLY not recommended as it is quite likely to do serious harm if anything goes wrong with BES. See here for a discussion and tips: a.com/eve/ forums/a/t pc/f/12009 443/ m/5130 07416831/r /389008716 831
