Remove DNS

I have two DNS boxes right now.  I want to remove one off of the network.  It is the DNS Start of Authority as well.  I tried just removing the role from the server but that did not work.  I want to remove DNS completely and then demote the server back to a member server from a DC.  How do I do this?

create an SOA record on the other server.

Demote this server and THEN remove the DNS service.

It will not allow me to create an SOA record on the other server.  It just gives the the options to Transfer from Master and Reload from Master.

I found the problem.  I did not have it operatinig in AD-Integrated mode.  When I changed the server to a Primary and it put it in AD-Integrated.  Now I have demoted the second server.  What do I need to do to make sure DNS is cleaned up?

Yes I have already transferred all FSMO roles and the GC to the main DC.  No clients are pointing to the old DNS server (it was a temporary server during a rebuild).  All clients have the new DNS back in there settings.  I guess I am good to go after I remove the DNS right?
